About.
Hi, I’m Suze Rockett.
I’m a coach who helps people stay rooted in their values while reaching for new possibilities.
I first discovered coaching as a client and, honestly, I didn’t really know what I was getting into or how much it would change my life. I’d just stepped into a senior leadership position, and my organisation connected me with a coach.
This was in 2020, when online meetings still felt strange and new. I found the sessions uncomfortable at times, always challenging — and completely brilliant. We worked together for about a year, first online and then in person, and that experience proved more valuable than any leadership course I’d ever been on.
A winding path with deep roots
I’m no stranger to change.
I earned a doctorate in History (yes, I am officially Dr Rockett!) and taught at the University of Sheffield before running away to join the railway. I worked in a signal box, managed a control desk, and moved into rail freight operations.
Curiosity and a desire to make a difference led me to new spaces: providing face-to-face advice with Citizens Advice, shaping transport strategy in local government, and then returning to rail freight, this time in the private sector.
It was here I first experienced coaching. Coaching helped me find my voice and leadership style in an environment where my values didn’t always align with the organisation’s. It helped me build and develop an incredible team, and gave me the confidence to advocate for the creation of sustainability department which I went on to lead.
During this time, I also set up mentoring programmes: peer-to-peer mentoring for women, and later for early-career staff and secondary school pupils. These experiences confirmed how much I loved helping people develop and find their own paths.
Where people and planet meet
Throughout my career, I’ve been deeply aware of the climate and nature crises that shape our world. Two years ago, I took the chance to bring that focus to the forefront, joining a conservation NGO where I still work part-time.
I love this work, but I missed the sense of connection that comes from developing people and seeing them flourish. So, after years of mentoring through the incredible charity BelEve, I finally decided to make coaching my own path.
I trained with the ICF-accredited Optimus Coaching Academy and founded Suze Rockett Coaching, the space you’ve now found your way to.
My approach
My coaching is grounded in both the academic and the intuitive; in the evidence-based principles of positive psychology and the grounding wisdom of the natural world.
Together, we’ll uncover your strengths, build resilience and create a way forward that feels truly authentic to you.
I work in alignment with the International Coaching Federation’s Code of Ethics, and I believe real growth happens when we are deeply connected to ourselves, to others and to the world around us.
My values
Kindness: meeting you where you are, without judgement.
Equality: supporting voices that need space to rise.
Joy: finding lightness and energy in your journey.
Connection: drawing on the wisdom and resilience of the natural world.
And if you’re wondering what coaching with me feels like...
It’s a bit like walking through the woods together: steady, thoughtful, full of discovery.
You’ll do the exploring; I’ll hold the map, the space and the questions that help you see the path ahead more clearly.
